Title: Remodeling
Pairing: McGee/Gibbs
Rating: PG
Summary: Tony tries to put together the clues
Tony always got a naughty rush when he had to go into Gibbs’ house- like a kid slipping his hand into the candy jar and pulling out the biggest cookie. The older agent’s life was the only one that was kept in the dark from him, like a big treat dangling right in front of him but kept being pulled away.
Peering around the corners he bit his lip. “Boss, you here?” Silence prevailed through the household. “Boss?” Tony peeked into the kitchen and blinked a few times. Well that was different, instead of the usual rugged ‘clean because it’s never used’ look it was sparkling. It had Mr. Clean written all over it, not only that but it looked like something out of a Home and Style magazine he’d flipped through a few weeks back.
Following through the kitchen to the door that led to the basement he toed open the door. He could hear the low rumbling on the television, and the rhythmic scrapping sound of the older man’s hand-sander moving along the skeleton of his boat. How did he plan on getting the boat out of there anyways?
“Hey, Boss.”
“DiNozzo, what are you doing here?” He looked up at the other man with an evil glint in his eye.
“You weren’t answering your phone Boss.” Tony flashed him an innocent smile –knowing full well it looked anything but innocent. Gibbs looked at him blank and calculating, probably thinking up the best way to answer that without implicating himself in any sort of mistake.
“I must have left it upstairs.” Blinking in shock Tony sputtered for a moment.
“Oh.” Tony gaped at him until he was snapped at.
“Hey. Tony. Why are you here?”
“We’ve got a case. Big one too, triple homicide on…”

Tony didn’t get the chance to think about Gibbs kitchen much later, only after the case and he was sprawled on the couch watching late night television ads for Girls Gone Wild On Summer Vacation. That had been a nice kitchen, like magazine nice, and totally not in usual Gibbs style.
Was there a new lady in his life?
Someone who knew her way around the kitchen, the red haired lady in the silver car perhaps? She looked more the kind who had a servant to do her cooking. Closing his eyes he wondered how on earth he could get that information without getting slapped. Because, those slaps? They hurt like a bitch.
- -
Timothy puttered around the kitchen, making himself a sandwich with not too much jelly but lots of peanut butter. He hummed to himself absently, concentrating on the even spread of the sticky jelly across the bread.
There were footsteps behind him, and he got a hand on his hip, with the other man rested a sharp chin on his shoulder. “You gonna make one of those for me?” Tim smiled to himself, already reaching for the bread bag.
“Right away.”
“I’ll be in the basement.” He tilted his head back as the hand curled around his throat, lips parting for the light kiss.

Date: 2007-08-24 01:59 pm (UTC)It's so rare to find a Gibbs/McGee fic, I've sadly only ever stumbled across a small handful in the past.
