Pairing: Maru/Junno, YamaPi/Jin
Rating: PG-13
Summary: YamaPi falls in love with Jin, and together they explore brave new worlds, and in their own way they try to help Maru.
Notes: Happy Pie day. For
swtjemz and
je_levy I apologize in advance.
YamaPi could remember the first time he saw Jin. Caught by his huge liquid eyes and the playful bounce in his step, everything about him screaming ‘wanna have a good time?’ YamaPi might have fallen in love at that exact moment. Like thump—thump-- oh, and now his heart was beating at a completely different rhythm, all wrong but so right, it felt right about to beat right out of his tiny rib cage.
YamaPi did the only thing he knew how, he took a flying leap at Jin slamming into him with all his weight and sending them both sliding and rolling across the floor.
“Ah! Hey!” Maru yelped, moving out of their way.
Jin took it all in stride, twisting and trying to end up on top when they finally stopped rolling. He jumped out of the tangle of limbs looking mussed and annoyed. YamaPi liked that look even more.
“YamaPi! Bad kitty!” Maru stared at the two kittens, he’d only gotten Jin because all YamaPi did was mope when Maru wasn’t there. He was always sitting by the door with huge abandoned eyes when Maru got back from work, like he’d somehow let YamaPi down by needed to leave during the day. He thought cats were supposed to be self-sufficient. Massu told him that getting another kitten to play with would help him, in retrospect Massu was the last person he should be taking animal advice from, but it was too late now. Jin was a little bigger, sandy-ginger fur with white paws. They were circling each other now and Maru was fretting, what if one of them got hurt? Though the vet who’d given YamaPi his kitten immunizations was tall and stupidly attractive. Enough that when he smiled Maru said stupid things.
That was neither here nor there. He shouldn’t be hoping for a reason to go to the vet’s.
“Koyama?” Someone on the other end of the mobile laughed softly and it was obviously Koyama (Maru had a bit of a history with calling Koyama and the oddest sounding people picking up his phone), no one else managed to sound so helplessly amused when he giggled at absolutely nothing. “I need your help.”
“What is it?”
“My cats, they are fighting. What do I do?” He managed an entire tv studio, that he could handle, cats? He wasn’t sure, best to talk to an expert.
“They are just getting to know each other, let them go for a bit.”
Maru wasn’t so reassured, but he said thank you to his secretary and hung up, still watching the two cats which seemed to have switched to high speed tag, both of them with their claws out so they were running funny all but stuck to the floor but chasing after each other’s like they were going for fucking gold.
“Please get along.” Maru called out to them, he was promptly ignored at YamaPi tried to flying tackle Jin and was wrestled to the floor where they squirmed and mewled in a hopeless tangle of fur and tiny paws and small sharp teeth.
~~
“You got another kitten!” Dr. Taguchi smiled at him, and Maru felt the bottom of his stomach drop out. The sensation was somewhere between pleasant and really uncomfortable.
Jin was butting his head against Junno’s fingers (they smelled sort of strange, like aliens). But his touch was gentle, and Jin was going to tell YamaPi all about it, flaunt it in his face that he got to go outside. They had races at the crack in the door when Maru came home, and he always did this weird little dance trying to grab them both while kicking the door shut with his foot. Jin almost made it once, but YamaPi had been caught and he couldn’t do it without him. It wouldn’t mean the same thing. They were a team. Batman and robin! Like the Lone Ranger and-- OUCH
“See kitty, that didn’t hurt so much.” Junno was cooing, but he was also pinning Jin’s body to the table so he couldn’t scratch. Maru was staring at his gloves, and he hadn’t known that latex was a turn-on before, or maybe it was such long dainty fingers, each like a coy little silhouette, taunting him with the barest curve of nail.
“So, um, right. When’s my next appointment?” Maru stared at his hands as Junno carefully worked a rather pissed off and ruffled Jin back into his box.
“When do you want it? I mean I don’t do regular physicals but I’ve been told my fish-treats are the best around.”
Maru just stared at him until he got it. “Oh haha.” He said lamely, but Dr. Taguchi beamed at him. It was incredibly charming. “When is Jin’s next appointment?”
“Well in a few months you’re going to need to get him fixed if you don’t want him taking a wee on everything.”
~~
“Koyama, could you find Koki for me, he’s... gone.” Maru scowled, the ratings for the primetime were dropping he was losing to a bunch rainbow coloured... pansies from channel 33. This was not cool. They needed the ratings, with the economy the way it was thinks could go from good to bad really fast and he wasn’t about to leave his workers hung and dry like that. They were his.
“Smoke break.” Koyama said. His desk was always so neat, the surface clean and polished enough you could see the reflection of his shiny smile.
“Tell him he’s a-- Is that your cat?” There was a framed photo of a tabby being cuddled against a chest; the person’s face wasn’t even in the photo. It was impossible to tell, but the watch looked expensive enough to be Shige’s the lawyer that Koyama brought to the last Christmas party. A right douche, but you didn’t hear it from Maru.
“Nyanta.” Koyama smiled, Koyama was the type of person who could smile with his whole body and right now his shoulders were grinning, almost winking, “he’s my baby. Hey! We should have play dates! He’d love to meet Pin!”
“Maybe another day.” He hedged, chances were he couldn’t deal with three cats all at once. Jin and YamaPi were big kittens now, twice as destructive when they play fought. His hands were covered in little scratches and bites where he couldn’t help himself but to join in with them. “Just go find me Koki, we need to brainstorm.”
“Yes sir.”
The next day Maru took in a photo, it was YamaPi all curled around Jin and licking his face. They both looked lazy and content and kind of unbearably cute. He put it on his bare desk and listened to Koki bug him about it for the rest of the day (oh, but he would get him back). Koyama found it charming, and Massu warned him that Koyama had a history of crying when moved. Maru was a bit leery of yelling at him for the rest of the day,
A week later he grabbed the photo, put it in a drawer and slammed it shut with enough force to bruise his own knuckles.
“Problem?” Massu was on his laptop all spread out on his couch doing market research or solitare, it was hard to tell with Massu.
“Fucking cat is pissing on everything.”
~~
“So...” Maru was leaning on the counter while Dr. Taguchi filled out some forms, he would need to leave Jin there over-night. “Do you like coffee?”
“Love it.” He got that quick smile in return, and the doctor was listening to Jin’s heartbeat with a stethoscope pressed against his chest fur.
Awkward silence.
“...That’s nice.”
Maru beat a hasty retreat, when he got home it was to find YamaPi taking out his loneliness and sorrow on the arm of his couch yowling with abject despair.
~~
Jin went away, and when he came back he was all dazed, YamaPi pressed his nose against Jin’s shoulder and breathed deep, Jin smelled off. He licked Jin’s face, and Jin responded slowly, looking at him with eyes that wouldn’t focus properly. He mewled pitifully, just a wisp of a sound.
“Leave him alone for a bit he’s still high.” Maru put the cat carrier away and YamaPi stuck next to Jin for the rest of the night, licking the tufts of fur that stood up on his neck on their half of the couch while Maru sat on the other half watching television. Occasionally Jin would stir and make a pained sound, so YamaPi gently cleaned his face and neck fur until he fell asleep again. He could feel Jin purring all the places they were pressed up against each other, rumbling through him reassuringly.
~~
It was YamaPi’s turn next.
He was terrified and he cried and he cried and Jin came and poked his paws through the bars of the carrier but he couldn’t get YamaPi out. They both cried until Maru came in, slipping into his shoes and he pushed a dejected Jin out of the way with his foot while Jin tried to reach the plastic carrier cage like it was the last time he’d ever see YamaPi.
It was a star-crossed lovers moment, and the door shutting with a click was the final act. Jin was alone in the house for the first time ever. He sat where he was watching the door and panicking slowly. He was so freaked out he vomited right in Maru’s loafer. Jin stared in distaste at the pile of vomit and promptly vomited all over that again.
It wasn’t as tragic as Romeo and Juliet, YamaPi came back the next day (but not after a hunger strike, and a lot of sulking under the couch while Maru swore loudly about his shoes.) Now it was Jin’s turn to lay on his side curled protectively around a sore and sleepy YamaPi, carefully licking the badwrongdifferent smell out of his sleek black fur.
~~
“We need something new, something fresh. Something that is going to catch the hearts of viewers and squeeze them for what they are worth.” Maru was sitting at the head of the long table, surveying his troops.
Logistics-officer Koyama brought coffee and doughnuts and this shin-dig was going to go down.
“’Cause that’s so easy.” There was something inherently disturbing about Massu’s baby-face and that tone of dripping sarcasm.
“What about we do something with animals?” He might have to listen to Koyama here, he was the only one that Maru was half-way sure actually had a heart. “Like one of those rescue programs?”
“Oh, we could make like a reality show.” Koki grinned, he’d been bugging Maru to jump on the reality-tv bandwagon for over a year now. Massu was pulling a highly unimpressed face, that looked a lot like one of Maru’s cats and he laughed with glee. They were onto something here.
“I think I know just the man to consult.”
~~
Maru left the window open when he was gone for the cats to come in and out as they pleased. So far Jin had sniffed it, and YamaPi put only one paw out, but it was huge out there, bigger than the slippery tile expanse of the kitchen floor when they were both kittens and more frightening then that time Jin fell in the shower with Maru.
YamaPi was staring at the mocking open window, Jin made a chirping noise, and YamaPi turned to look at him, and Jin was sleek and shiny and intent, staring at the sky beyond, and YamaPi was so in love. It took up all the space in his chest, he would give up that sky, the odd smells that drifted in, he’d give them up for Jin.
Jin blinked and looked at him, stood up and butt his head against YamaPi’s so they were rubbing their faces together.
Right. Jin loved him too.
YamaPi leapt up from the floor to the chair and walked across the sill to the open window. He jumped out and onto the small ledge that led to the fence that surrounded the small lawn. Fully outside YamaPi was terrified, and Jin chirped behind him.
YamaPi leapt into the unknown, secure in the knowledge that he wasn’t alone.
EXTRA:
Maru and Junno were having a day in, Junno wearing a pair of Maru’s sweats, his ankles peeking out teasingly. Maru was lying across the couch so Junno could run those long fingers through his hair, brushing it soothingly away from his forehead. Maru would object to being pet, but he was enjoying it too much to care. He would work up the will to protest if Junno started to scratch behind his ears, probably.
YamaPi and Jin were rolling across the carpet getting fur everywhere, fighting over a small pouch filled with catnip. Just like when they were kittens.
That was until YamaPi kicked the pouch away and tried to mount Jin while biting at his neck. Maru squeaked while Junno just laughed and laughed.

Altogether I really really love the way you write Junno/Maru. So much comfortable and sexy mixed together. I feel spoiled.

Date: 2011-03-31 02:11 am (UTC)KITTY PIN OMG. This was just too adorable! So sweet. I even loved the Maru/Junno, and I barely even know who they are (why yes, I am lame, and I do live under a rock, thanks for asking 8D), but that's just how cute it was. AND THE KITTIES. I want Pin kitties of my own♥
I especially love the fact that they're actually cats here, rather than people in cat bodies. That just made it all the cuter.
Thank you for writing this~♥
